A black box is the teaching tool designed as a light game, through which players enter the complex world of light colors.
The box itself is the stage; the sides have several rails into which translucent and opaque panels can be fitted, allowing the playing space to be altered.
The box contains many toys and light tools with different characteristics that serve as stimuli. The challenge is to create a scene by combining different elements in a three-dimensional composition that mimics a previously defined chromatic composition. In this way we deepen our understanding of what colors of light are and how they are generated, exploring the qualities of color temperatures (CCT) and color rendering index (CRI) as well as mixtures and the idea of generating new colors from basic, additive mixtures (RGB).
This initiative is part of the workshop held at the 2012 Ibero-American Lighting Designers Meeting in Querétaro, Mexico.
