Kaleidoscopic Shelter

A shelter beneath the promenade protects us from the northern winds while its kaleidoscopic appearance envelops us. The overhang or underside of La Concha has been a largely forgotten place, especially during winter nights. Faced with the challenge of transforming the cold atmosphere of this covered section, we filtered the light from its luminaires into the different shades of the visible light spectrum, thus creating a space with different colors and textures that invite contemplation and enjoyment of a place that is usually inhospitable on long winter nights.

On the outside of the overhang, we redirected the beam of light from the beach to the edge of the overhang, reducing its intensity and simultaneously reducing existing light pollution. These small changes have transformed this promenade into a comfortable retreat for strollers who want to enjoy the panoramic view of the bay.
